Wow Wow Wow Receiver - mission accomplished
Four authors write a book in three days
- Series: SPARKS - literature goes digital
An interesting experiment was finished on the Frankfurt book fair: "Wow Wow Wow Receiver" is a multi-media publishing project which created poems in real time during the Frankfurt book fair, now also publishing them via Poisiepedia.
The event was curated by Duncan White (University of the Arts, London) and 2010LAB.tv in cooperation with web-based publishers Poiesipedia. Four authors from three continents participated in the four-day event. Pam Brown (Sydney), Kenneth Goldsmith (New York), Lawrence Upton (London), and Peter Hauff (Frankfurt) were responsible for the texts, and Touka Neyestani provided the digital illustrations. In the video, the participants talk about their experiences with the unusual project.
Curator Duncan White is happy about the course of the project: „For three days, the authors wrote three times a day, on the fourth day, we published the book.“
At the beginning, author Peter Hauff was a bit insecure concerning the technical usability, but now, he enjoys the „concrete result I’m holding in my hands now.“
Dr. Luca P. Marigetti of Poiesipedia points out that „ a major part of the book market is taken over by e-books. Thus, you’ll be able to specialise, which will make book-on-demand prints all the more important.“
Bernd Fesel of 2010LAB.tv says: „We wanted to generate an experiment on how literature is changing by the digital approach and the awareness of working in a common digital space which nevertheless features a lot of cultural variety.“
The Poisipedia App can be found at iTunes.
