Waterworld. A dive into the world of water architecture
A dive into the world of water architecture. An explorative talk with Water Architect van Bueren and Vice-mayor Sustainability of Rotterdam, Mrs. van Huffelen covering the question if it is possible to live on the water at all... What about electricity, for example? And what to do when the water rises? Our experts have the answers and explain that a whole city built on water is no longer just an utopia but could be completely realised in a few years from now.

Capital of Culture 2001 and City Of Architecture 2007. The Dutch port city is not only one of the most important hubs of global economy - it also reflects symptomatically the urban challenges of our time.

Thanks! I still find it
Thanks! I still find it surprising how you start taking things for granted that are in your every day surrounding. E.g.: architecture students from Japan coming to visit Rotterdam for its buildings. This water exploration really sounds promising to me.
city fiction
Re-think archictecture, make the city really more livable, built on water - this sounds like fiction, city fiction I call it. This film ist not only about water & the city., but also it shows the specific capacity of the Netherlands. to think out of the box early and with support of the government. In Germany most city officials do not understand the value of good architecture yet - if they do, they limit it to specific sites for tourism attraction like the inner habor in Düsseldorf und Cologne.
10 point for Rotterdam !
