made in marxloh, sell in turkey - Simon Evans on Duisburg-Marxloh

Simon Evans, director of Creative Clusters Ltd. (UK), knows how to interpret international markets and developments. After his inspiring short trip to Marxloh, a district of Duisburg, the Brit comes up with his own vision for the quarter and its residents.

Contrary to some voices always talking of "the Marxloh people" as a "problem", Evans sees a big potential in the quarter's huge Turkish community and thinks it is a prerequisite to open up fast-growing international markets such as India, China, and, above all, Turkey.

"You just have to be willing to put money into the people in Marxloh instead of putting it into the buildings of the Düsseldorf Media Hafen"
