The downfall of the heavy industry makes Wallonia and the Ruhr area brothers in a way. How are these regions handling structural change? The conversion of idle production sites is in full progress. Both regions believe in the creative industry to overcome their challenges.
Philippe Reynaert places his bet on film for Wallonie. That's a self-explanatory image quesetion to him: Film is the most industrial of all arts which means that the film suits the region and its people who have been shaped by the industry.
Wallimage
For ten years, he has been the director of Wallimage. The regional fund takes invests into the local audio-visual industry. In this part of Belgium, the movies shall not only be filmed but also be projected, prepared, post-produced and successfully marketed. At the same time, Wallimage provides for a service platform for people in the film industry, local support and sponsors. Reynaert explains how his interesting business model transformed the film industry in an economic mainstay that can take it up with Hollywood.
Reynart is also acting president of Cine-Regio.Wallimage is part of this European network of regional film funds. In cooperation with Cineuropa it markets the European collaboration within the movie on a worldwide level
