European cultural & creative industries summit 2009
- Series: Bildung
The congress, hosted by the European Capital of Culture RUHR.2010 and Civic Agenda, was part of the „year of creativity and innovation“ and brought together more than 300 main stake holders.
They discussed about the policies, strategies and future collaborations the EU and the respective national governments should implement so that cultural and creative industries could effectively draw profits from the „digital shift“. (“digital shift” is an expression invented by the cultural and creative sector to describe the consequences of technological changes in Europe.).
Prof. Dieter Gorny, chairman of the board of the Bundesverband Musikindustrie e.V., art director of RUHR.2010, and keynote speaker of the congress: "The so-called ‘digital shift’ is reality. It changes our everyday routine, not only our communication habits. We have to deal with the problem of protecting the cultural sector in an increasingly digital market. It will be crucial for the future of the cultural and creative sector to create a digital surrounding which is profitable and leaves room enough for creative ideas and products at the same time.”
P.Y.P Film and TV Production reported for 2010LAB.tv on the top-class conference in Brussels.
