Film artist Saschko Frey delivers first camera footage of selected EMSCHERKUNST.2010 project locations visited by the artist Tadashi Kawamata.
The biggest art project of the European Capital of Culture 2010, EMSCHERKUNST.2010, starts at the end of May and will run for 100 days. Its extremely unusual location of choice: the Emscher island.
Art in a public surrounding with an urban focus, but also aspects of landscape art will be at the centre of the exhibition curated by Florian Matzner .
On May 29, the exhibition will be opened by the prime minister of North Rhine-Westphalia, accompanied by a large opening festivity.
Filmmaker Saschko Frey has followed the EMSCHERKUNST.2010 project from its start 2008 with his camera, providing intense impressions of the artists, their ideas and selected locations along the Emscher.
His multipartite documentation series on the genesis of this unique art project is presented here, on 2010LAB.tv.
