EMSCHERKUNST.2010 - Silke Wagner 02
- Series: EMSCHERKUNST
Silke Wagner has chosen an extraordinary location for the realisation of her project suggestion for EMSCHERKUNST.2010: The digestion tower on the premises of the former sewage plant in Herne has been cleaned, cored, and reconstructed – so, the unusual egg shape of the tower could develop its own aesthetical quality. The Bavarian artist duo M+M turns the interior into a temporary cinema, whereas Silke Wagner creates a monumental wall mosaic for the outward casing of the digestion tower.
The artist works conceptual, dealing with sociological, political or ecological issues. She initiates actions and irritations, as well as communication and transformation processes, often together with local social fringe groups.
She focuses on the conditionality of public space and its perception and exploitation by various social groups and milieus.
