EMSCHERKUNST.2010 – New green lung enriched with artificial oxygen
- Series: EMSCHERKUNST
The Emscher region in the Ruhr area is looking towards Nantes - Saint Nazaire in France where the artistic spectacle of a 60 km long river bank can be seen since 2007. If this is successful along the Loire, why shouldn't it be successful along the Emscher.
German Minister President Jürgen Rüttgers denominates the Emscher island as central component of the change process and calls the place "the central art venue of the capital of culture".

20 projects by 40 artists on 11 square kilometres of the Emscher island between Oberhausen and Castrop-Rauxel can be discovered up until September 5th.

These days, more than 5 million inhabitants do experience the transformation of their post- industrial Ruhr area in the western part of Germany to an exciting European „place to be“, a budding metropolis in a post-Capital of Culture 2010 identification process with its industrial culture as part of a collective memory being a characteristic feature – and an orchestrated mass event.
