Echo Jazz in Bochum – the music industry’s new award goes to Paul Kuhn
- Series: Ökonomie, Ruhr Music
The first Echo Jazz award was a signal for the new attractiveness of the Ruhr metropolitan area. On May 5th 2010, one tried to bring Jazz into the spotlight of the wider public with an award in Bochum.
A competent and cool show brought national and international Jazz musicians together that thanked each other for the many years of making music together.
Even thought the event seemed more like a travelling circus, it placed a permanent emphasis on the region and its Jazz musicians. In cultural reminiscence, Bochum will always be linked to the birthplace of the Echo Jazz.
The absolute highlight of the show was the award given to Paul Kuhn for his lifework. The Echo was handed to him by his long-time friend James Last. We were on location – at the most entertaining place of the evening within the Ruhr Area. And we made Paul Kuhn sing for 2010LAB.tv.
