Cultural Conflict: structural change in public 2.0

At the 6th national politico-cultural congress netz.macht.kultur which was held in Berlin right before the Vingsten holidays, everything revolved around the description of the change process that was started due to the digital age and its media and tools. Dr. Norbert Sievers, managing director of the "Kulturpolitische Gesellschaft" (politico-cultural society; translator's note) sees traits of a cultural conflict which will continue for quite some time.

Norbert Sievers, Geschäftsführer der Kulturpolitischen Gesellschaft e.V.
Experts from politics, law and the creative industry held a debate on the Freedom of Information Act and the difficult question of copyright law. Thomas Krüger, president of the Federal Agency for Civic Education, inquires where the expected public data citizen quarrel was.

Who owns the contents of the web - who makes money with them? Dr. Inke Arns, Art Director of the HMKV in Dortmund knows about the precarious situation of artists and creative heads on the web. How can the state protect single artists against dynamic and worldwide-operating corporations?

Thomas Krüger, Präsident der Bundeszentrale für politische Bildung
Or is this all a big present, an utopia that finally became reality? So why the scepticism? Geert Lovink from the Institute of Network Cultures at the Hogeschool in Amsterdam postulates: "Copyright law is dead" and Christoph Deeg, trainer and consultant of Kulturbeutel, calls for a current worldly world view. Web 2.0 is a new form of culture. The medium itself offers the opportunity of a common creative development of design and culture for the first time.
