The crown of Marxloh - an integration success story in Duisburg
- Series: Kreativ.Quartier.Ruhr
The citizens of Marxloh would perhaps not be so arrogant to claim they were the crown of creation. Yet the Rose Palace in Marxloh does indeed crown the human creation in a certain way.

This project run by citizens demonstrates that a peaceful coexistence between people with different cultural backgrounds, nationalities and religions is possible. They all have one wish in common: to understand the foreign, to be able to show their own identity, to add their manpower and to be allowed to contribute to realising a vision, and to be able to enjoy life. In this respect - in times where self-proclaimed experts tend to try and raise attention with perfidious terms such as "integration incapacity" and "the ones not willing to integrate" - the small but impressive project shows that reality is morally dominant and practically ahead of the construction of fear and prejudice.

If bureaucratic hurdles don't stand in the way of a mutually integration-friendly society, people will be able to meet under a roof of roses in Duisburg-Marxloh, tell each other a variety of stories and learn from each other rather than to drift apart. Inschallah. Without fatalism. I.e.: God willing - and the people who like to play God as well.
