C’n’B 2011 – digital business, analogue heart

The C’n’B on Friday ended like it had begun on Thursday: with Steve Blame. Apart from that fact, the day belonged to people who introduced their new and often very successful ideas, like Vimeo founder Zach Klein for example.

The presentations and workshops had names such as „Real Digital Business Models“ or „Taking over your creative business“, „digital strategies“, or „Gamification“, emphasizing that the future will be digital. Which admittedly is nothing new. But the young and very successful “creative entrepreneurs” also demonstrated that traditional ideas and values don’t have to get lost by that. 

Valuable ideas, handiwork, and exit strategies 

In his speech, Vimeo co-founder Zach Klein talked about the right „exit strategy“. Today, he regrets having sold his platform that early and not being able to participate in its development any more. These days, the man who is only in his late twenties, would put the long-term value of a good idea, and working with like-minded people first.

Anda Corrie’s striking booth with its colourful and a bit chaotic sewing and handicraft activities was a nice variety of the „digital“ topic: she is the representative of the online distribution company etsy which provides young designers to offer their merchandise online. Very analogue, touchable, and last but not least highly likeable.

In the panel „International Networks“, all participants paid homage to brilliant TED conference and its motto „ideas worth spreading“. Its online version Ted Talks celebrates its fifth anniversary, by the way.
Finally, Steve Blame entertained the audience once again with passages from his new book, music, film clips, anecdotes from his MTV era, and amusing narrations about his disputes with his former Viva boss, Dieter Gorny.
