Bucovina Club Orkestar and Disko Partizani: interview with Shantel
"It might be Germany's mangy street dog that makes this country so liveable"
- Series: Aufgenommen und abgemischt
Music producer, club owner and Frankfurt-based DJ Stefan Hantel is currently on tour with Balkan Beats covering the northern hemisphere and combining France with Romania, Karlsruhe with Toronto, Swabia and the Münster region with the Netherlands and Posen with New York City and Istanbul. We took the gig at Zeche Carl in Essen as an opportunity to interview Shantel.
Shantel & Bocuvina Club Orkestar and Disko Partizani are an essential pillar of the merry and colourful trends Balkan beats and pop. This is where Arabs dance with Turks, Germans with Persians, the old with the young, women with women and men with men in a great never ending party that goes until the early morning.
Rubbing off exotically fresh
Shantel is always looking for new exotic things. He tours worldwide and it's important to him not to hide behind the multicultural but to clearly present himself as German musician because: "This might be the new face of Germany."
Along the way, he exclusively uncovers the sweet & sour secret of the kiwi fruit.
As one of the main acts, naturally, Shantel & Bucovina Club Orkesta also played a show at this year's Juicy Beats Festival on 28 July at Dortmund's great venue Westfalenpark.
