Urban art exhibition in the metro
Del Mur a l’Art presents the works of 14 urban artists at a metro station in Barcelona
Some urban artists manage to overcome huge challenges when elaborating their works, and so the exhibition Del Mur a l’Art (Catalan for “From the wall to the Art”) presents part of their action in a very representative place: the Mercè Sala area, located in the connection passageway of two metro lines at Diagonal station.
Del Mur a l’Art has been organized by the Kognitif collective, a platform consisting of artists of all disciplines that supports and coordinates their projects. The visitors will find a selection of original works created by 14 different artists in studios, including photographs of interventions performed in the public space, artists’ reflections about this movement and a compilation of videos.
The urban space as a huge art gallery
In particular, we find works by the most innovative artists in international urban culture: Aryz, Boris Hoppek, Btoy, El Tono, Inocuo, Jorge Rodríguez Gerada, Kenor, Lucas Milà, Max Gärtner, Miss Van, Ripo, Daniel Muñoz San, Sixeart and Suso33. According to them, this unconventional exhibition is a great opportunity to bring the attention of the public to the artistry of city murals: street art interacts with both nature and the environment while developing a close bond with the spectator. Its turning the public space into a huge art gallery. In addition, the visitor discovers the artist’s perspective through a series of videos which show the double life they lead.
If we bear in mind that the aim of the Kognitif collective is to generate contents in public spaces through cultural, social and artistic projects, the exhibition is undoubtedly a good example of the initiatives the platform is carrying out. They look for synergies, unite talented people who transform the urban space and help improve life in the city.
