RUHR.2010 at the EXPO The Ruhr Metropolis highlighted during NRW Week
- Series: Expo 2010 - Shanghai
Ideas need elbow room! Just as in the Ruhr Metropolis, China has also seen ever more lively development of creative quarters. This is true especially in Shanghai.
In the course of NRW Week, RUHR.2010 erected a glass Creative.Quarter at the EXPO in Shanghai. Its intention: to promote Sino-German exchange on social and urban developments. This is true to the motto for the EXPO: “Better city – Better Life”.
Visitors were encouraged to participate themselves in three interactive acrylic containers. The containers are dedicated to the subjects of “Science”, “The Cultural Economy” and “Media/2010LAB.tv”.
2010LAB.tv is an online platform catering to content generated by the creative economy. This is to cover the regional, national and international levels. Particular focus here is directed to the development of the creative economy in the Ruhr Metropolis. Thus at the EXPO six monitors showed films about the Ruhr, illustrating its broad diversity. The container itself offered visitors a visual impression of the Ruhr Metropolis with the Ruhr area skyline depicted as wallpaper on four partitions inside the container.
Each evening there was a “best-of” event during which a 30-minute loop made up of music videos, festival clips, Ruhr Region films and art videos were shown. In addition to the event at the EXPO itself, 2010LAB.tv followed DJs through Shanghai’s nightlife and captured their appearances live. These film clips and interviews will be webcast on 2010LAB.tv very shortly
