Western festivals have had a significant development in urban Chinese life, while the traditional ones' voices are getting lower and lower. If you take an eye on these festival activities, mainly are about purchasing promotion such as Valentine's Day, Father's Day, Mother's Day, the Christmas always comes as the summit of the year, all of these beneficially amount to a great consuming terms. This business-wise also determines a big difference between Chinese Christmas and the European style. When western people are gathering at home, preparing and eating a heavy Christmas meal, Chinese are hanging out in big restaurants, shopping malls, cinemas and clubs for fun.

When the Christmas is approaching, Chinese can use its fame incisively in another way: every shopping centers builds up a deluxe decorated Christmas tree, no exception. Kids know it's time to ask parents for presents, but they have no idea about the original story of the Christ; youngsters are staring at the amazing super Christmas tree made by plastic but don't know how important the real tree smell is. After several years of market fostering, the super malls are not worrying lack of customers, now they even higher prices to make a flaunty competition, anyway the customers have no other choice. On this hand, the western festivals are still superficially interpreted by the brilliant business developers in China, since there is no easy channels for Chinese to get to know the basic story.
