Poet of the city: Jules Deelder
- Series: Kunst
Being mayor of the city at nighttime for years straight, keeping up the slickest of appearances, being the second-best selling poet of the country and maintaining a drug-habit for decades, Jules Deelder is one of the most iconic appearances of Rotterdam, worthy of some international attention.
His work is always humouristic, raw and rythmic, based on his so-loved jazz music.
He calls himself an acthor: an acting author, always making a show of his performances. Besides poetry and prose, he’s an often booked jazz-dj and a mean illustrator.

Nearing the seventy, this man can worthily be called a living legend.
Choosing a favourite from his work is a tough job, but I fell for his 'Oh kut' (oh cunt) poem, a titillating telltale of all the words for, yes indeed, the cunt. What else can you do but love him?
