Move flying: second Ecotendencias CosmoCaixa session

An outreach program that reflects and debates about current environmental challenges and their future

The project assumes an important bid to promote critical thinking and movement towards a more sustainable future. This new space is focused on the latest environmental trends and social, economical and political implications.

The first Ecotendencias edition was about “The electric car revolution” and now it  is the turn of “Move flying”.  This second edition is dedicated to the future of aviation and its main goal is to approach the big questions of this industry’s strategy to a sustainable and prosperous future. Anyone with an innovative idea which assumes a sustainable contribution in the field of aircraft can take part in this program developed by Obra Social La Caixa and called “.IDEA”.

The Ecotendencias platform consists of three types of sessions with different formats in order to encourage the public concern about environment and its conservation:

1.) TECNO: this session is not only addressed to professionals, specialists and academics, but also for the general public. Three senior executives of the aviation industry will participate in this session, which will affect the developments and advances in areas such as materials, aerodynamics, fuel and supersonic flight.

2.) IDEA: this is about innovative projects in the aviation field. From all these presented projects, the best ones will be selected, exposed and briefly explained in the session.

3.) TÚ .(YOU): in this, three reference speakers –Francesc Muñoz, PhD in geography and director of Urbanization Observatory (UAB), José María Casillas Barral, head of environmental assessment project, and Germà Bel, professor of UB economics-  will respond to all the questions asked by the audience and will discuss the current airport model and about the impact of various forms of exploitation and aviation companies sustainability.

Therefore, Ecotendencias is an active platform for discussion with a high level of participation by the audience. It includes a virtual space where the most relevant information about  the treated topic is collected encouraging the debate. So these kind of initiatives must be appreciated by the current society because they are an excellent chance to listen to everyone who has an idea in order to protect the environment from industries with a big pollution tradition.
