Google.cn, one night over
In order to stand on our freedom of views, I first have to declare for the following, it’s just a JOKE.
Internet discourse here in China is worrying about the future of Google.com, or Google.com.hk (the new home of Google China), it’s like a kid to meet the parents' divorce. If Google becomes a sensitive word, how would the Chinese web environment be?
That is what we said the Post-Google Time. Now Google.cn is really closed (officially 23rd of Mar. 2010) for its offending against the concerned law in China. However, nobody knows where this concerned law is, but it’s still powerful as real. For enterprises, they cannot take air as a dictionary; otherwise they should seal their mouths. Now that you’re in this game, dare or truth is a question for all, not excluding Chinese.
As some media said, “Before Google.cn came to China, Chinese customers could already access Google service; now Google.cn is gone, but you still can use Google.com.hk for the same functions.” Which tells us, now even some netants are mourning for Google’s sudden leaving doesn’t mean Google has got all forgiveness from people who love and hate. It’s clear that, not many people have understood the meaning of this commercial “failure” case, so there’re people saying, “Damn, it’s disgusting to make this quitting show!” while they trust Google quitted because of its uncompetitive in China as the media’s context; and then also some opposite comments came out, “The 2 billion RMB market for Google’s 24 billion USD is a tiny lost, but for China’s internet world, it’s a 10-year backward jump.”
You know you are dancing with mobs, so are you seriously expecting rules? No Way! When we were taught to use search engine (no matter we had), when we were allowed to access at least the face of the world standard technology (no matter where does it come from), no matter it’s the latest or not, we were so indulged to enjoy the burgeon from zero. How can you imagine people to differentiate Google and the other engines? What brings another question to Google, not all people can understand why its quitting should be such an emphasis in the highlights.
Then Google has to stay, just dig one meter deeper, when your targets are much more enrolled, to make their value to compare to judge. Now it stopped stepping on when it almost succeeded. So to say, Google refused a country not fit for its value, which is the same as China refused this violator.
People in China still can access Google.com.hk for Chinese tools, so where are the differences? Only some supporters are explaining the advantages of Google how it is better than the others is not enough, these individuals are still dispersed and inside the social context.
We were wondering maybe the next mission for Google should be finding unlocker solutions for the content filtering systems.
For being a polite human, goodbye Google, and it was nice to meet you!
