
Floriade 2012 in Venlo
A Horticulture Festival
From 5 April 2012, the Dutch town of Venlo is hosting the 6th edition of the Floriade, an international horticultural expo held once every ten years in the Netherlands. The expo’s 66 hectares park offers 40 hectares of showcases of innovations in the horticultural world.
Be part of the theatre in nature, get closer to the quality of life
Under this year’s slogan ‘Be part of the theatre in nature, get closer to the quality of life’, the Floriade invites visitors to experience nature in various ways through the creation of five unique themed worlds, 
Millions of flowers
The Floriade gathers businesses in the horticulture sectors: both Dutch organizations and international participants. Visitors of the Floriade 2012 are given the possibility to enjoy the world’s most beautiful and exceptional flowers, plants and trees. In all, an impressive number of 1,8 million bulbs have been planted across the park, complementing 190,000 perennial flowering plants, 18,000 shrubs, 15,000 hedge plants and 3,000 trees.
Cultural program
Daily cultural programs feature music, dance, theater and graphic art performed and created by artists

Tuinen van Appeltern
Among the many exhibitions is the ultimate garden experience ‘De Tuinen Van Appeltern’, situated in the Green Engine part of the festival. ‘De Tuinen’ demonstrates the four basic principles for a perfect garden. Another interesting concept displayed in the environment section of Floriade is the ‘Living Pavilion’ which recreates an open-air environment indoors and vise versa.
